El aumento de la neuroimagen en los últimos años ha proporcionado a los médicos y radiólogos la capacidad de estudiar el cerebro con una facilidad sin precedentes. Esto condujo a una nueva perspectiva biológica en el estudio de las enfermedades neurodegenerativas, permitiendo la caracterización de diferentes patrones anatómicos y funcionales asociados a ellas. Los sistemas de Diagnóstico Asistido por Ordenador (CAD) utilizan técnicas estadísticas para preparar, procesar y extraer información de datos de neuroimagen con un objetivo principal: optimizar el proceso de análisis y diagnóstico de enfermedades neurodegenerativas y enfermedades mentales.
